Interview

PA ~ When did you take up your artistry and how long have you been involved with it?

I been doing this music thing since the eighties. Back then I was too young to get into the clubs, but the clubs liked my DJ skills and they used to let spin, but I had to come early and stay behind the DJ booth so no one would see me. I started to get into making my own music in the mid nineties. I came out with a album that sold locally. I then hooked up with Lhex, back then known as Money MC, and we started to our thing together. We've been doing out thing ever since. He focuses on the lyrical stuff and I focus on the beats.

PA ~ Musically, how would you describe your sound/genre?

Our sound is what I would best describe as R&B / Hip Hop. I wouldn't really categorize us under rap, because our style is too different to fall into the rap category. The lyrics are almost sung, but still rapped. Our beats are more R&B and hip hop flavor, some even have a touch of club, but our style is too different to be considered rap.

PA ~ What gravitated you toward your artistic work ?

I love music

PA ~ Who are your influenced by?

The pioneers of Hip Hop. People like Grandmaster flash and the furious five, Mantronix, Whodini, Run DMC, and so on. They had the balls to put stuff together that was different, and made it a way of life. Also groups like Atlantic Starr, Parliament, Cameo, One Way, Kleer, Brick, Zapp, and so on.

PA ~ I understand you have a CD ("Who Got-cha") , what is the listener / viewer in store for?

To get energized. This CD EP is loaded with beats to party to.

PA ~ How is the CD / DVD / VIDEO being received?

So far all of our feedback has been really positive.

PA ~ Do you have a favorite composition on the CD / DVD VIDEO?

Track 2, the remix

PA ~ Will you be touring to promote ("Who Got-cha") ?

Not yet

PA ~ Any other projects or followups in the works presently?

Yes, there are two previous releases that are also doing pretty good. We are still getting a lot of feedback from those releases. And we are currently working on new material. And we will also be releasing a club CD in about a month

PA ~ Do you perform solo or normally with a group?

No, we don't perform anymore.

PA ~ Give us your thoughts on the indie music scene good and not so good.

I think the indie music scene is the best place for starting artists to do their thing. The major record companies don't want to be bothered by a group that is not known or that doesn't have a contact to get in. I've heard a lot of bands and been to a lot of studio recordings. And sometimes you wonder why these guys aren't with a major record company. And the other thing is that, if you do make it in the music biz, you get to keep more of your money when your with an indie label. Most artist would only want the distribution and promotion that the majors can offer. Other then that, we got our own studio, and gear.

PA ~ How is the artistic scene in ("NJ") evolving?

This is Jersey!

PA ~ What has the highlight of your career been?

Haven't had one yet

PA ~ What are some goals you hope to accomplish in the future?

We hope to get our music out therein a major way.

PA ~ What are your other interests outside of music ?

I also do a little photography.

PA ~ What was the best piece of advice you ever heard that motivates you in pursuit of your artistry?

 "Keep doing what your doing"
