Interview

Hi! I am Daniel Siemert who is the executive producer of the CD "Pieces of the Big Picture" by No Turn On Red. I play keyboards, saxophone and sing a little. I've played all kinds of music including jazz, blues, pop, rock, alternative rock and pop, etc.... My real passion with music is both song writing and producing in the studio, I love it. This CD is special, because it was recorded with a few other multi-talented friends who took my music to new heights..

PA ~ When did you take up your artistry and how long have you been involved with it?

I started with the clarinet in 5th grade and have been playing on and off for 25 years now.

PA ~ Musically, how would you describe your sound/genre?

Being original, its quit original with each song being a pieces of life and a little different from the one before. I would say its mostly pop with some rock, alternative pop and dance twists blended into it. Being a studio project with the finest of motown artist, there are three different singers on it, some different instrumentation like the twelve string guitar, saxophone, strings, special effects, bongos, etc... PIECES OF THE BIG PICTURE is candy to the ears, with different flavors of alternative pop, rock and dance all rolled into one theatrical rock musical experience that you don't want to miss. You will laugh, you will cry, you will hear it all as each song describes what we all go through in the puzzle of life.

PA ~ What gravitated you toward your artistic work ?

Just like being creative in the studio.

PA ~ Who are your influenced by?

Sting, The Dave Mathews Band, Mercy Me, U-2 and the Barenaked Ladies.

No, I would like to produce a Comtemporary Christian CD soon, like a Mercy Me. I find very inspiring to share Christianity through music where the relationship with God can be expressed in a today kind of message.

PA ~ Do you perform solo or normally with a group?

I think with the internet and digital downloads the indie scene is  great because one can be their own label and reach a big online audience.

PA ~ How is the artistic scene in Detroit evolving?

Detroit is very good, their is Kid Rock, Eminem, Uncle Cracker, great jazz, Hip Hop, etc... Of coarse the old MoTown legends still exist.

Take advantage of all the online services available to promote > your CD. Be open for professional critizism, never over produce a song. I feel that it is worth paying more to record, in the long run its worth it.
