Interview

For someone who doesn't know about you, please give our readers a brief synopsis of yourself as an artist.

Secret Aging Men is a 4 piece fusion instrumental group, comnprised of  Guitar-Synth Guitar / Synth Keybs & Piano / Bass / Drums.

Band has been playing together for almost 4 years, secretly in a basement studio / rehearsal room.  4 players are all baby-boomers who have each been playing in bands for the last 30-40 years, and have now found their final grooves in life.  Linear at times, their music is much like a thematic, emotional, roller coaster.

PA ~ When did you take up your artistry and how long have you been involved with it?

This group first met and started jamming in 2002 in RC's basement studio near Atlanta.

PA ~ Musically, how would you describe yoursound/genre?

Fusion Instrumental - Linear at times,  music is much like a thematic, emotional, roller coaster.

PA ~ What gravitated you toward your artistic work ?

To keep our secret aging heads from exploding . . . .

PA ~ Who are your influenced by?

It's hard to say after listening to, and playing/performing,  music for over three decades . . . certainly different listeners will detect different influences at times, and they may also all be correct . . .you know?

PA ~ I understand you have a CD called "Fully Functional" , what is the listener / viewer in store for?

Our newest CD is entitled "Fully Functional" and contains 12 tracks totaling over an hour of cool instrumental stuff.  Most of it was recorded totally live during rehearsals,

PA ~ How is the CD being received?

Really well considering the extremely limited distribution - that we hope is continually getting better .  It's so encouraging to get emails from people who have just discovered a track or two by Secret Aging Men and are freaking to get the CD, or freaking because they got a copy and what they're hearing just is hitting their soft-spot right now.  We love connecting to those listeners with our music . . . because to be sure our music is not for everybody . . . many many people don't have the "audio patience" or "melodic open mindedness" to enjoy what we are doing.  But when we connect . . .well that makes it all worth the struggle, doesn't it?

PA ~ Do you have a favorite composition on the CD?

Fully Functional really needs to be listened to in it's entirety for one to totally scope out the Secret Aging Men mission, but there's a slow tune, the second cut on the CD called "Space Of Ages" that is a particularly great cut both sonically and performance wise.  Then there's a longer tune, track 7, and seven minutes long I think, called "Crystalline", that runs the gamut of dynamics.  Somone could probably listen to those two cuts and get a fairly good idea of what we are about.

PA ~ Will you be touring to promote Fully Functional?

We Hope So.  We're waiting for a few more offers to see which one will suit our secret aging lives the best right now......

PA ~ Any other projects or follow ups in the works presently?

We are working on our 3rd release now, hopefully to be ready sometime this summer 2006.

PA ~ Do you perform solo or normally with a group?

We perform only as a group - Secret Aging Men

PA ~ What would someone expect attending one of your shows?

A live non-stop roller coaster of sounds coming at them, over them, and through them.

PA ~ Do you perform outside of your hometown?

We would.
