Interview

PA ~ When did you take up your artistry and how long have you been involved with it?

It's been around 15 years or so. Started off in small bands and then bigger and better bands and now solo since 2002.

PA ~ Musically, how would you describe your sound/genre?

Adult alternative. I would be in with Wilco, Crowded House, Travis and Coldplay.

PA ~ What gravitated you toward your artistic work ?

I just found I loved it. I think that is what you need most as you can always practice and get better at it.

PA ~ Who are your influenced by?

Just about everything. I used to love artists and now I like songs best no matter what the source. A great song is very hard to write and even the best artists only ever write a couple. So Beatles to Britney.

PA ~ I understand you have a CD called , "Kiss The World Away".  What is the listener / viewer in store for?

Pop for grown ups.

PA ~ How is "Kiss The World Away", being received?

Very well for an indie. On all the big subscription internet sites, Rhapsody, E Music etc, Indie radio around the globe and also with a few US music supervisors.

PA ~ Do you have a favorite composition on "Kiss The World Away"?

Ricochet is my favorite track.

PA ~ Will you be touring to promote "Kiss The World Away" ?

Not in the US at present unless there is enough interest to make it financially viable.

PA ~ Any other projects or follow ups in the works presently?

A new release next year as yet untitled.

PA ~ Do you perform solo or normally with a group?

Mainly with a group of friends.

PA ~ Any performances coming up you'd like to plug?

Not just yet.

PA ~ What would someone expect attending one of your shows?

Melodic songs and a happy vibe.

PA ~ Do you perform outside of your hometown?

I have performed in both the US and Australia.

PA ~ During your artistic journey so far, any interesting (funny, bizarre, highlight, nightmare etc...) stories come to mind you'd like to share with us?

Lots of funny stuff happens on the road. At a venue in LA the band set up in the car park directly behind the stage whilst cars were driving around us. We then waited our turn loaded in through the loading dock on to the stage , played 5 songs then went straight back to the car park and then back to the hotel. Weird way to run a gig.

PA ~ Give us your thoughts on the indie music scene good and not so good.

The internet has allowed so much music to get out there and allowed people to make different and braver music. It alss means there is probably more bad music being heard at the same time but the good outweighs the bad.

PA ~ How is the artistic scene in Australia evolving?

It's pretty good in Sydney. Technology has allowed everybody to make quality recordings. Radio support for indie music can still be hard to get though.

PA ~ What has the highlight of your career been?

Touring my first release Great Ocean Road in the US in late 2002.

PA ~ What are some goals you hope to accomplish in the future?

I hope to have enough success to keep making new albums every year or so.

PA ~ What are your other interests outside of your music ?

I love history. I am reading a good book on the Maya at the moment.
PA ~ What was the best piece of advice you ever heard that motivates you in pursuit of your artistry?

Keep at it and learn from rejection.

PA ~ Where can someone find out more about Garth Adam?
